Who I am

I have always been passionate about history, but it was not my first choice. Originally I went to American University to study Political Science, before switching (first) to Computer Science and then to History.

From American University I attended the University of Cambridge for an MPhil in Medieval History. It was here that I began to be interested in questions of space and political power, as well as discovering the often unremarked upon Carolingian ruler Arnulf.

For those who follow me on Twitter/Bluesky, many of you know me as the "Arnulf Guy" because my PhD dissertation was about him and his reign. I completed my PhD at the Catholic University of America in 2025, and now am trying to find a way to continue researching and teaching about the Middle Ages but outside the academy.
